242 Broome is a 185,000 square-foot luxury condominium building at Essex Crossing situated in the heart of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, at the corner of Broome and Ludlow Streets. Working with SHoP Architects and DXA Studio, Taconic successfully transformed this former parking lot into a 15-story, 55-unit mixed-use building. 242 Broome is the first luxury residential condominium at Essex Crossing, and offers a 421a tax abatement plus a number of affordable units. Its location provides easy access to many of the signature features of Essex Crossing such as parks and green spaces, the Essex Market, Regal Cinemas and The Market Line. In addition to the 55 residential condominiums, 242 Broome includes first-class retail and community facility space, including the International Center of Photography and The Gutter, a Brooklyn-based bowling alley. Development was completed in 2019.
