Marty serves as an advisor to Taconic focusing on investments, financings, transaction structure, and strategy. He joined the team in 1998, bringing over 40 years of experience as a leading tax attorney, structuring real estate transactions for major owners. Early in his career, Marty headed the tax department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges and was instrumental in developing its real estate practice. He later became a general partner at Odyssey Partners L.P., a prominent New York based investment fund, and led their real estate investment group, including overseeing the acquisition and redevelopment of the 1,000,000-square-foot IBM headquarters building in New York City. He went on to form Reckson Opportunity Partners and was co-managing partner of the successful venture.
Marty is an emeritus member of the Boards of Visitors of Columbia University Law School and Columbia College and has been a member of the Board of directors of 92nd Street Y for over 20 years. Marty graduated with honors from both Columbia College and Columbia University Law School, where he was an editor of the Columbia Law Review, a Kent Scholar, and a lecturer in law.
