401 West 14th Street is a 65,000 square-foot, mixed-use building located at the gateway to the Manhattan’s historic Meatpacking District at the corner of 14th Street and Ninth Avenue. Following acquisition of the building in 2005, Taconic assembled an award-winning design team including COOKFOX Architects to successfully reposition the property into a neighborhood-defining retail opportunity. Taconic replaced all building systems, constructed a new lobby and building core, redesigned and replaced all windows and retail storefronts and obtained approvals from the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission to build a penthouse office addition. The property has since been leased to world-renowned tenants and brands, and prominently features a distinctive three-story flagship retail presence and back of house offices, which are leased to Apple, Inc. In recent years, Taconic has continued to promote the success of the surrounding neighborhood by supporting and working with groups like the Meatpacking Business Improvement District to host pop up events and sponsor neighborhood activations.
